商業發展基礎建設：近代化的過程（1895-1945）

甲午戰爭開啟日本對臺灣殖民統治的序幕。日本政府統治臺灣期間，授權株式會社臺灣銀行發行「臺灣銀行券」，便利臺灣與海外的貿易及金融；在臺灣實施人口、土地等基礎調查，推動公共衛生及近代教育政策，發展新式糖業及進行稻米品種改良，整建交通、水利、農業、郵政及電力等基礎建設，種種措施奠定戰前臺灣商業發展的基礎。

Sino-Japanese War marked the beginning of Japan's colonial rule over Taiwan. During the Japanese government's administration of Taiwan, it authorized the establishment of Taiwan Bank Co., Ltd. to issue "Taiwan Bank Notes," facilitating trade and finance between Taiwan and overseas. Various measures were implemented, including population and land surveys, promotion of public health and modern education policies, development of modernized sugar industry and rice variety improvement, as well as the construction of transportation, water resources, agriculture, postal services, and power infrastructure. These initiatives laid the foundation for Taiwan's commercial development before World War II.
