Based on its geographical position of importance, Taiwan has become the stopover for East Asia trade early. After the Dutch and the Spaniard arrived in Taiwan, they took it as the stronghold for sugar, deerskin and silk trades. Except for keeping the trade network in Dutch Age, the Cheng also traded the arms with the United Kingdom to keep the sources of their weapons after they arrived in Taiwan. In Qing Dynasty, the trade volume for tea, camphor and sugar increased. Besides, the western merchants arrived in Taiwan for business trades in succession after the treaty ports opened for international commerce, bringing the tea and the sugar of Taiwan to the world.
